Israel will occupy Gaza the day after Hamas is destroyed
The Israeli Response
There are a few contingencies that can happen the day after Hamas.
The common denominator among them all is that the Gaza Strip must be demilitarized, thus not allowing it to be used as a base for terror attacks against Israel and the West.
The Gaza Strip will be such that it no longer represents a security threat to the south of Israel; it will give security to Israel's people.
It will give new opportunities for the Palestinians to thrive and grow.
Conclusions
While Israel would need to ensure the demilitarization of Gaza to prevent further aggressions against its citizens, it is not Israel's goal to occupy Gaza.
