Israel treats the Palestinians the same way Russia treats Ukraine

The Israeli Response

  • Palestinians can't be compared to Ukraine because:
    • Ukraine wasn't actively violent against Russia and its civilians. Palestinians have always been actively violent against Israel and its civilians.
    • Ukrainians fire rockets and molotov cocktails on Russian militants and tanks, while Palestinians deliberately fire at civilian vehicles and homes.
    • Ukraine recognizes Russia's sovereignty, unlike Hamas who doesn't recognize Israel and has declared again and again that it aims to destroy it.
    • Ukraine, unlike Gaza, is a sovereign state with declared borders that has existed peacefully alongside its neighbors for decades.
  • Israel can't be compared to Russia, because:
    • Israel and Ukraine are democracies. Russia is not, and no elections have been held in Gaza or the West Bank since 2006.
    • Russia is the one who initiated the violence against Ukraine. All of Israel's operations in Gaza and the West Bank in the last decade have started in response to deadly attacks carried out and coordinated by Palestinians (The kidnapping of the 3 teenagers in 2014, the riots in 2021 and of course October 7th).
    • Israel is a small nation. Its soldiers are safeguarding civilians who often live within walking distance from outbreaks of violence. Russia, on the other hand, is a massive country invading another massive country. Civilians in Russia do not face daily threats of violence from terrorist groups in Ukraine.
    • Israel's operation against Hamas aims to neutralize terrorists and ensure the safety of its citizens, while Russia's invasion of Ukraine seeks to overthrow the Ukrainian government and strip the country of its independence.
  • In the current conflict, Israeli and American forces are attacked from Iraq, Syria and Yemen with Iranian-made drones, the same ones that Iran sells to Russia to use against Ukraine.

Conclusions

It's important to note the differences between the conflicts, such as the historical context, the nature of the attacks, and the geopolitical status of the regions. Israel’s operations in Gaza and the West Bank are a response to threats and attacks by Palestinian terrorist groups who are responsible for the deaths of thousands of Israelis, while Russia's invasion of Ukraine is an attempt to overthrow the Ukrainian government and take away the country’s independence. Israel's largest enemy, Iran, who arms and funds Palestinian terrorist organizations, is responsible for civilian casualties in both Ukraine and Israel.
