"Globalise the Intifada" is a call for legitimate resistance

The Israeli Response

  • What does "Globalise the Intifada" mean?
    • People wrongly interpret this phrase as civil disobedience, general strikes, or negotiations, but it's calling for murder of the Jewish people.
      • The term originated from two violent uprisings of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip that aimed to eradicate the Jewish state and kill Jews using firearms, hand grenades, molotov cocktails, and axes.
        • The First Intifada (1987-1990) was marked by widespread protests, anarchy and acts of terrorism against Israelis.
        • The Second Intifada (2000-2005), also known as the Al-Aqsa Intifada, was also characterized by waves of suicide bombings in civilian areas and passenger buses. Approximately 1,000 Israelis were killed or injured by Palestinian terror attacks.

      Conclusions

"Globalize the Intifada" undoubtedly calls for violence against Jews given the violent nature of previous intifadas. In the face of such abhorrent slogans, governments that champion freedom and democracy must not turn a blind eye. They have a responsibility to act – to condemn this rhetoric and address the root causes of this hate.
